A cornerstone of the culture at SimplePay, which has greatly contributed to our development to date, is our commitment to continuous improvement. This culture is what drives us to continually review and critique both our processes and our system to see where we can be even better.
SimplePay automatically calculates and applies a pro-rate percentage to the Basic Salary of employees if they do not work for a full pay period i.e. the are appointed after the start of a pay period or terminated before the end of a pay period. We’ve received several requests to allow for the pro-rata percentage to be applied to other items, and are delighted to announce that this functionality is now available for certain custom items.
In March 2021, we introduced beneficiaries to the system (refer to our blog post dated 9 March). We’ve now expanded this feature to allow you to pay beneficiaries in bulk.
Our new approver override feature allows full admins to approve requests when approvers are on leave.
We’ve expanded our beneficiaries functionality so that you can add beneficiaries for custom items.
We’ve added a new pay frequency for paying employees every four weeks.
You can now download a ZIP file with all the payslips within a specific date range for selected employees or pay points.
We’ve expanded our permissions functionality to include an option for read-only access.

New feature for UIF submissions: now both submissions and responses from the UIF can be downloaded for better record keeping.

To ease the payroll burden on employers and payroll administrators during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have introduced a new Employee Actions section to our Bulk Actions page to allow users to manage an employees end of service in bulk.
Our new optional timeout feature allows you to choose how long the system can be left idle for before automatically logging you out of SimplePay.

We’re please to announce a major new feature. Self-service leave requests allow your employees to request leave from their self-service accounts, and then initiates a workflow where another employee can approve that leave.
Due to the recent drop in interest rates by the reserve bank, the fringe benefit interest rate on low or interest free loans will now be 6% instead of 6.5%.
We’ve added 2 new features that you may find useful. The first is bulk input of recurring items, such as basic salary / hourly rates, which was previously only available for periodic items such as hours worked.

We’ve recently released two frequently requested features. The first being employee self-service, which allows your employees to log in and access their current and historic payslips online. You can also have the system e-mail them when their latest payslips are ready. This is version 1.0 of self-service and future versions will include more advanced features such as leave requests and updating of the employee’s particulars.
